Safe Haven

During our life, humans tend to gather things. Things you think you need. However, when time passes by, you realize that physical things are not the ones that matter. There is this moment, when you start bettering yourself. It’s very strange to start packing your life in several boxes ready to be moved to a brand new place. Everything you achieved, everything you have worked for, suddenly shines in a new light. It becomes clearer. You feel a little bit lighter like a burden was taken away from you. Your heart starts to tremble and finally, you understand. Let’s stop with the psychology talk and come back to the story.

After two days, I was ready. My plane was waiting for me to embark on the new adventure. The flight was filled with many emotions. However, I taught myself how to enjoy small moments and I couldn’t stop wondering if I made the right choice. You see, when you’re above the clouds, time flows differently. You see your whole life in front of your eyes, like a movie. What you did good or bad, what decisions you made, how you felt – everything is right there. Let’s be clear with something. We all have doubts. It is normal to have those whenever you make a change. It is the manner you surpass them that defines you.

When I landed, the whole team was waiting for me. There was Chloe – the owner, Yves – the chef and Sophie – the waitress & bartender. I was right there, a stranger in the middle of nowhere, or so I thought. They welcomed me as one of their own and they couldn’t stop making fun of my accent. From the airport to the village that was to become my home, there was a two hours drive. Rosses Point was eager to meet it new inhabitant. I was very quiet during that so called trip. But the reality was that I was mesmerised by the scenery.

When Chloe presented my new house, I was in shock. In front of me, there was a cottage with a terrace above the lake.
